Although non-formulated extracts provide a 95% concentration of curcuminoids, bioavailability is very low.

Although curcumin is stable in the acidic environment of the stomach, it becomes increasingly unstable as it enters the alkaline environment of the small intestine, where the majority is simply degraded to inactive byproducts. To overcome these poor stability issues, the hydrogel technology protects curcumin against degradation in the harsh environment.
