Pure & Essential Astaxanthin Complex is a natural extract from the microalgae Haematococcus Pluvialis (H. Pluvialis) – the same algae responsible for the pink-red pigmentation of wild salmon and crustaceans. Astaxanthin Complex contains the highest available concentration of astaxanthin, and a complex of other beneficial carotenoids including lutein and zeaxanthin, as well as naturally occurring fatty acids, which together offer a broad range of health benefits, enhance its bioavailability and increase cell membrane stability.

Of all the carotenoids, astaxanthin is nature’s most potent, with the highest known ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) – a measure of its ability to combat oxidative stress. Astaxanthin’s ability to quench free radicals is 6,000 times greater than vitamin C, 800 times that of coenzyme Q10 and 550 times that of vitamin E.

The King of antioxidants

Astaxanthin’s ability to reduce oxidative stress is incredibly strong due to its unique chemical structure, providing additional protection from cellular damage. Most importantly, astaxanthin has an unlimited ability to protect against oxidative damage, without becoming a pro-oxidant during this process like many other antioxidants do. Astaxanthin is also able to span the entire cell membrane providing enhanced antioxidant protection.

Concentrated algae source

Our astaxanthin is sourced from a single-celled green algae, Haematococcus Pluvialis (H. Pluvialis). The chemical structure and high active ingredient content of our astaxanthin makes it a superior source for achieving enhanced antioxidant support. One softgel delivers 4mg natural astaxanthin derived from 42mg astaxanthin complex oil, providing a 10% concentrated supplement.

Sustainable and pure

Unlike most astaxanthin grown in outdoor ponds, our astaxanthin is cultivated in a climate-controlled, closed system, resulting in exceptionally pure microalgae. Very high quality supplement that has been part of my supplement regime for a number of years.

Excellent product

I spent a lot of time researching this supplement after a poor experience with other suppliers products. Pure & Essential Astalif ticks all the boxes for me, impressive manufacturing and testing, and the 4 Mg 'maintenance level' dose is just right for taking it daily. Word of advice based on my experience, always ensure the cap is screwed down tight and keep the bottle in the fridge. Astaxanthin is very susceptible to oxidation.

I have been using this product for nearly 1 month, I haven't seen a massive difference but by all accounts it can take a while for the changes this makes to your system to be apparent. The process of ordering and delivery was faultless, communication was great from the company and the website descriptions are really clear.
