Pure & Essential Astaxanthin Complex is a natural extract from the microalgae Haematococcus Pluvialis (H. Pluvialis) – the same algae responsible for the pink-red pigmentation of wild salmon and crustaceans. Astaxanthin Complex contains the highest available concentration of astaxanthin, and a complex of other beneficial carotenoids including lutein and zeaxanthin, as well as naturally occurring fatty acids, which together offer a broad range of health benefits, enhance its bioavailability and increase cell membrane stability.

Of all the carotenoids, astaxanthin is nature’s most potent, with the highest known ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) – a measure of its ability to combat oxidative stress. Astaxanthin’s ability to quench free radicals is 6,000 times greater than vitamin C, 800 times that of coenzyme Q10 and 550 times that of vitamin E.

Real use & expert insights

Each bottle contains 90 softgels. Suggested dose: 1 daily for general health, and up to 2 for intensive support.

Adults & adolescents aged 14 and over - take 1 softgel daily. For optimal absorption, take with a meal containing fat. For additional support, adults may take 2 softgels daily. Do not exceed the maximum dose.

This product should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Seek professional medical advice before taking any food supplement if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication. FAQs

Astaxanthin Complex does contain trace amounts of other carotenoids, including lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene. These are naturally occurring inH. Pluvialisalgae-derived astaxanthin and bring their own antioxidant benefits.

We recommend swallowing the softgel whole if possible. Astaxanthin has a deep red pigment that can stain your teeth, tongue and lips if the softgel is chewed or punctured. Astaxanthin may also stain clothing or surfaces if spilled.

We previously used beta-carotene as a natural source of colour for our vegan softgel shell. However, it gave the product an unusual odour, and in response to customer feedback, we moved to an odourless clear softgel shell to resolve the issue, and the product now only has the characteristic natural astaxanthin odour. The red appearance of the softgel is now simply attributed to the natural colour of the astaxanthin.

Easy to swallow, reliable company

If only our bodies could shout out what, if any supplements they needed, it would be so helpful.I have to be honest and say I had not heard of astaxanthin before. So I researched and found, like some other supplements, it may be good for some fairly diverse conditions. And like other supplements some people will find them helpful and some will not. I am hoping it will be helpful for my (getting) older skin and hopefully helping with eyes and general health.This has a good few pluses, it is made in the UK and by a company that seem care about what they do and the pill is small and easy to swallow.As for taking them they do recommend you take them with a meal that contains some sort of fats to aid absorption. Dosage from 1 to 2 tablets daily.As long as I don't end up looking like a flamingo :) I will carry on taking the pills.

No artificial nasties

Excellent product

I spent a lot of time researching this supplement after a poor experience with other suppliers products. Pure & Essential Astalif ticks all the boxes for me, impressive manufacturing and testing, and the 4 Mg 'maintenance level' dose is just right for taking it daily. Word of advice based on my experience, always ensure the cap is screwed down tight and keep the bottle in the fridge. Astaxanthin is very susceptible to oxidation.

I have been using this product for nearly 1 month, I haven't seen a massive difference but by all accounts it can take a while for the changes this makes to your system to be apparent. Today was my first day of full sun on the lake. I’ll be doing this every weekend for the full summer fall here in the Rockies at high altitude. I’ve been in the sun, my whole life, and I just started noticing some changes In my skin.

I’ve just been taking the Astaxanthin complex for 2 weeks now, so the jury is still out. As a natural remedy, it makes perfect sense.

The baby leaves of mini Rocky Mountains plants begin as a deep red leaf; this is a natural sunscreen protection for the delicate leaves. Then when they feel safe, they turned green and become full-size.

I am super excited for the red algae and the benefits is I continue to age and play a little more gracefully in the sun!

Have had a positive outcome with this astaxanthin, keeps inflammation down in my body, & stay regular in bowl movements,pee,&poo have a pink tint to it, but know it's got to be working, its great so far, i take two but might up to 1 more, it says no more then three a day, it perks me up& makes me get more stuff done& feel great. Will only buy from here, so u should try it.

I take this in the summer months to protect my skin from the harming sun rays . Love the ingredients ! Would love a higher dosage capsule so I can take 1 capsule instead of the 2 .

One that I wouldn't be without.

Have been taking this for years for eye health. The only time I had to stop was for a recurring gut infection where I really noticed the deterioration. As soon as I was well enough I resumed the daily dose and the eyes recovered. That was a different brand w/o all of the ingredients that this one has. Marvellous stuff!
