Sublingual delivery for high absorption
Standard absorption of vitamin B12 via the gut relies on several factors that can easily be compromised, and is limited to small quantities of B12 at any one time. Absorption is usually reliant on adequate stomach acid to detach B12 from proteins in the diet, and the presence of intrinsic factor (IF) - a binding protein which supports absorption in the intestines. Levels of stomach acid and IF can be reduced by many factors including genetic variations, digestive disorders and ageing, leading to reduced B12 uptake. Sublingual format bypasses the digestive system, delivering B12 directly to the bloodstream without the reliance on absorption in the gut.
With a natural strawberry flavour, Super B12-Complex is pleasant and easy to use. The small tablets have a smooth texture, sitting comfortably under the tongue. This formula is free from sugar and artificial sweeteners, colours and flavours.
Superior bioactivity from three B12 forms
Standard B12 supplements deliver a single form, often synthetic cyanocobalamin, but methylco-balamin provides superior bioavailability and retention in comparison. Different forms of B12 are also required for different functions in the body so we combine three naturally occurring and bio-active forms - methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin - for greater health coverage. Those with genetic variations may also benefit from taking multiple forms to raise B12 status more efficiently.
Optimal dosing works in harmony with the body
Absorption in the gut relies on several factors that can easily be compromised, and is limited to small quantities of B12 at any one time. Sublingual delivery bypasses this route altogether, allowing for superior uptake via passive diffusion directly into the bloodstream. As such, each small tablet delivers an effective 1000mcg B12 in a convenient 1-a-day dose, ideal for boosting levels without oversaturating the body.
Energy production
Adenosylcobalamin is an active form of B12 found in cellular tissues and retained in mitochondria - the powerhouse of cells - where it supports cellular energy production. Adenosylcobalamin also account for ~60-70% of total B12 stored in the liver. With co-factor activity, this form also supports brain development, growth and muscle development. Similar to methylcobalamin, ade-nosylcobalamin has superior bioavailability with the advantage of delivering B12 more efficiently to cells.
Mood & central nervous system
Active predominantly in cell plasma, methylcobalamin is required to convert folic acid to its active form. Providing superior bioavailability, methylcobalamin is also a cofactor for homocysteine recycling, essential for neurotransmitter function, affecting brain function and mood balance. With an important role in detoxification, methylcobalamin also supports the formation of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a universal methyl donor for almost 100 different substrates, including DNA, RNA, hormones, proteins, and lipids.
Red blood cell production
Hydroxocobalamin is active in both cell plasma and blood. Particurlarly beneficial for smokers, hydroxocobalamin acts as a scavenger for detoxification by-products, including cyanide mole-cules and nitric oxide (NO) radicals.
