Enhanced absorption bypasses the gut
Standard absorption of vitamin B12 via the gut relies on several factors that can easily be compromised and are limited to small quantities of B12 at any one time. Absorption is usually reliant on adequate stomach acid to detach B12 from proteins in the diet, and the presence of intrinsic factor (IF) - a binding protein that supports absorption in the intestines. Levels of stomach acid and IF are often reduced by medication, genetic variations, digestive disorders and aging, leading to reduced B12 uptake.
High strength & sublingual delivery
We use the superior sublingual format to bypass the digestive system, avoiding any absorption issues which may be present. Sublingual delivery allows vitamin B12 to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream via passive diffusion under the tongue. This superior uptake mechanism is ideal for those who may have suboptimal digestion. 2 sprays deliver a potent dose of 5000mcg B12, ideal for supporting B12 levels
Three superior forms of B12
Standard B12 supplements often deliver a single form of B12 as synthetic cyanocobalamin, which is poorly absorbed. To provide superior bioavailability and retention, we combine three naturally occurring and bioactive forms - Methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin. These forms of B12 are also required for different functions in the body, offering greater health coverage. Those with genetic variations may also benefit from taking multiple forms to raise B12 status more efficiently.
Energy production
Adenosylcobalamin is an active form of B12 found in cellular tissues and retained in mitochondria - the powerhouse of cells - where it supports cellular energy production. Adenosylcobalamin also accounts for ~60-70% of total B12 stored in the liver. With co-factor activity, this form also supports brain development and growth. Similar to methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin has superior bioavailability with the advantage of delivering B12 more efficiently to cells.
Mood balance
Active predominantly in blood plasma, methylcobalamin is required to convert folic acid to its active form. Providing superior bioavailability, methylcobalamin is also a cofactor for homocysteine recycling, essential for neurotransmitter function, affecting brain function and mood balance. With an important role in detoxification, methylcobalamin also supports the formation of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a universal methyl donor for almost 100 different substrates, including DNA, RNA, hormones, proteins, and lipids.
Red blood cell production
Hydroxocobalamin is active in both cells and blood plasma. Particularly beneficial for smokers, hydroxocobalamin acts as a scavenger for detoxification by-products, including cyanide molecules and nitric oxide (NO) radicals. B12 injections often deliver B12 in the hydroxocobalamin form. Vitamin B12 spray via passive diffusion under the tongue may be as efficient as B12 injections.
