Pure & Essential Astaxanthin Complex is a natural extract from the microalgae Haematococcus Pluvialis (H. Pluvialis) – the same algae responsible for the pink-red pigmentation of wild salmon and crustaceans. Astaxanthin Complex contains the highest available concentration of astaxanthin, and a complex of other beneficial carotenoids including lutein and zeaxanthin, as well as naturally occurring fatty acids, which together offer a broad range of health benefits, enhance its bioavailability and increase cell membrane stability.

Of all the carotenoids, astaxanthin is nature’s most potent, with the highest known ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) – a measure of its ability to combat oxidative stress. Astaxanthin’s ability to quench free radicals is 6,000 times greater than vitamin C, 800 times that of coenzyme Q10 and 550 times that of vitamin E.

Each bottle contains 90 softgels. Suggested dose: 1 daily for general health, and up to 2 for intensive support.

Adults & adolescents aged 14 and over - take 1 softgel daily. For optimal absorption, take with a meal containing fat. For additional support, adults may take 2 softgels daily. Do not exceed the maximum dose.

This product should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Seek professional medical advice before taking any food supplement if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication. Not suitable for consumption by infants, children and adolescents under 14 years of age. FAQs

Astaxanthin Complex does contain trace amounts of other carotenoids, including lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene. These are naturally occurring inH. Pluvialisalgae-derived astaxanthin and bring their own antioxidant benefits.

We recommend swallowing the softgel whole if possible. Astaxanthin has a deep red pigment that can stain your teeth, tongue and lips if the softgel is chewed or punctured. Astaxanthin may also stain clothing or surfaces if spilled.

We previously used beta-carotene as a natural source of colour for our vegan softgel shell. However, it gave the product an unusual odour, and in response to customer feedback, we moved to an odourless clear softgel shell to resolve the issue, and the product now only has the characteristic natural astaxanthin odour. The red appearance of the softgel is now simply attributed to the natural colour of the astaxanthin.
