About Igennus

For over 20 years our family run business has been developing high impact nutrition supplements with the goal of making a real difference to health outcomes. Our resident medic and nutrition scientists formulate according to evidence-based nutrition and bring a wealth of expertise.

We believe that nutrition should uplift and not overwhelm and so our mission is to make complex nutrition and health science understandable, appealing and realistic to implement. In short, we need an ex-journalist adept at storytelling - to help us translate technical nutrition science into engaging content that will resonate with consumers. This new role - Content Strategist & Editorial Lead – reports to the CEO and joins our in-house communications team.

This person will lead our editorial direction across digital and video channels, helping to translate our scientific expertise into engaging and memorable multimedia content.

The role

You’ll be the chief editor guiding Igennus’ content – as we devote a large portion of time to nutrition education with raw material produced by inhouse scientists and nutritionists. You will get to grips with scientific data and concepts, converting and shaping it into text, visual and video content. Working collaboratively with science, nutrition, communications and creative colleagues, you’ll help Igennus to build narratives that really help customers to understand how our supplements work, how they are different, and why that matters to them.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll oversee and edit the production of content that maintains scientific accuracy but adds accessibility and warmth, ensuring our brand voice stands out against a watered-down wellness market.

Key responsibilities

Editorial strategy & story development

  • Lead the creation of an editorial strategy that makes complex nutrition and health science accessible to everyday audiences. We are committed to maintaining long-form content output despite trends towards micro reels and brief copy
  • Source engaging stories, points of difference and ‘hooks’ from associated research papers, clinical data, and internal technical dossiers to use in product marketing
  • Together with our nutritionists develop an editorial calendar around Igennus’ key themes and discerning consumer segments
  • Adhere to and evolve a consistent brand tone and editorial voice across written, video, visual and social content
  • Collaborate with science and product teams to ensure accuracy

Content oversight

  • Edit and commission articles, posts and scripts that leverage expert knowledge with wider consumer relevance – the science is explained clearly in a way that answers the consumer’s need for understanding and empowerment
  • Develop concepts, assist with scripts and guide production of video content, from product marketing to social posts and ads to brand storytelling from our CEO and senior scientists
  • Work closely with our marketing and data teams to align content with performance metrics around engagement, conversion and acquisition goals

Brand narrative

  • Refine and evolve Igennus’ brand narrative
  • Train and mentor others in scientific storytelling and editorial techniques and approaches
  • Evaluate and evolve content according to performance and engagement and other business objectives

About you

You’re a professional journalist, editor, or content strategist who has experience working with technical content and making it suitable and appealing for a lay audience. You are able to find the really pertinent information in a mass of information, the consumer relevance behind a scientific mechanism, and interrogate professional subject matter experts to leverage their expertise.  You work well collaboratively and autonomously, content in a high accountability environment – where everyone has the potential to make a real difference.

You'll bring:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ proven experience in journalism, editorial writing, or science communication
  • A minimum education of degree level
  • Sector experience in health, nutrition, or related science, and a willingness to develop strong product knowledge (training provided)
  • A passion for translating complex nutrition or health science into clear, resonant content
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience in scripting and producing video content or directing interviews
  • A down-to-earth attitude, personable and proactive, while comfortable collaborating closely with colleagues at all levels

Our values:

  • Scientific integrity – we value authenticity and transparency and follow science, not trends
  • Commitment to supporting human endeavour – we believe in providing meaningful work for our team, opportunities to develop and learn in a hardworking team that works smart but leaves time for living a life
  • Responsible business practices – we orient ourselves towards a long-term business perspective and do not take shortcuts. We believe in doing things right, and being responsible for our choices that affect the environment and our people – taking a wider view of our impact, beyond profit
  • Education & empowerment – We help people to understand nutrition science, their individual needs, and enable them to make informed choices – our investment in rich scientific content and nutrition support is evidence of this
  • Continuous improvement – we implore our team to remain curious and questioning, always adapting

What you'll gain:

  • The opportunity to evolve a growing brand’s voice, brand image and help us connect with the public’s need to understand science-based nutrition
  • The ability to carve out a new and varied role
  • Working in a close-knit team and an informal family values-oriented business culture that blends science, creativity and purpose
  • Collaboration with leading nutrition scientists and business owners who truly care about the impact of our products

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary (£40-55k depending on experience) + performance-based bonus
  • Hybrid working with 1-2 days’ work-from-home option
  • 25 days annual holiday + bank holidays
  • Holiday allowance that increases with length of service
  • Private medical insurance
  • Generous Igennus health supplements annual allowance
  • An entrepreneurial company culture, with strong values around health and family and a desire to support and develop our team members
