Nutrition Consultation Terms

1. Purpose of the Service

The free 15-minute consultation (“Consultation”) provided by Igennus Limited, trading as Igennus Healthcare Nutrition (“Igennus”, “we”, “our”), offers general information about food supplements. The information is intended to support decisions about supplementation and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

The Consultation is not a clinical assessment or medical care and is not intended to replace advice from your GP or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional. These terms apply to Consultations offered through our UK/EU website and should be read alongside our Website Terms and Conditions.

2. Scope of Advice

During the Consultation, our nutritionists or in-house medic (“Consultants”) may:

  • Provide general, non-diagnostic information about food supplements
  • Highlight potential contraindications or interactions based on information you disclose
  • Offer general wellbeing and lifestyle suggestions

Our Consultants cannot:

  • Diagnose, treat or manage a medical condition
  • Interpret laboratory tests or clinical investigations
  • Advise you to discontinue prescribed medication or ignore medical advice
  • Make medicinal or other claims prohibited by the rules applicable to the product and market

Any supplement suggestions are non-prescriptive and based on the limited information provided during the session. A Consultant’s professional qualifications do not change the limited scope of this service.

3. Children’s Supplement Guidance

Consultations are available to adults aged 18 or over. Where the topic concerns a child under 18, the Consultation must be booked and attended by the child’s parent or legal guardian, who confirms that they have parental responsibility or other legal authority to discuss the child’s information.

The Consultation provides general educational information to the parent or guardian. It does not provide medical care to the child, establish a healthcare professional–patient relationship, or include diagnosis, treatment, interpretation of test results or changes to prescribed medication.

Please consult the child’s GP, paediatrician, pharmacist or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional before starting or changing a supplement, particularly where the child has a medical condition or takes medication. Follow the product’s age restrictions and directions.

Please share only information reasonably necessary for the discussion. Do not submit the child’s full name, date of birth, medical records or other unnecessary identifying information through the booking form. Information provided is handled in accordance with our Privacy and Cookie Policy.

We may decline or end a Consultation where authority to discuss the child’s information is unclear or the questions fall outside the service’s scope.

4. Regulatory Disclosures

Food supplements are regulated as foods rather than medicines. We will not present a food supplement as a treatment, prevention or cure for a disease or medical condition.

Information about products and any nutrition or health claims must comply with the rules applicable in the relevant market. Great Britain and the European Union have separate regulatory frameworks and registers for authorised health claims; the requirements applicable in Northern Ireland may also differ.

Any references to potential health benefits will be consistent with legally permitted nutrition and health claims and their conditions of use. No Consultant will make claims that would unlawfully present a food supplement as a medicinal product.

5. Limitations of the Consultation

The Consultation is limited to 15 minutes and cannot account for a full medical history or complex health concerns.

Consultants may ask you to consult your GP or a specialist where your questions exceed the scope of general supplement guidance. They may decline to answer questions outside the permitted scope.

No written plan, clinical assessment or ongoing support is included unless expressly stated. The service must not be used for urgent or emergency medical concerns.

6. Your Responsibilities

By booking or attending a Consultation, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information reasonably necessary for the discussion, including relevant medication, supplement use, allergies and health conditions you choose to disclose
  • Tell the Consultant if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, where relevant to the discussion
  • Use your judgement when considering general information and follow product labels and age restrictions
  • Seek advice from your GP or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional about symptoms, medical conditions or changes in health, and before starting or changing a supplement where appropriate
  • Not stop or change prescribed medication on the basis of the Consultation

Supplement use is voluntary. Your decisions do not remove any rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.

7. Liability and Your Legal Rights

We will provide the Consultation with reasonable care and skill. However, general information given in a short session cannot replace an individual clinical assessment, and we do not guarantee a particular result or that a supplement will be suitable for every person.

The Consultation does not create a doctor–patient or other clinical treatment relationship. Please seek appropriate medical advice where needed.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

These Terms do not exclude or restrict any mandatory consumer rights or remedies available to you under applicable UK law or, where applicable, the law of the EU country in which you live. They do not waive any rights belonging to a child.

8. Booking, Rescheduling and Cancellation

Consultations are available by appointment only. The person booking and attending must be aged 18 or over. For a Consultation about a child, the requirements in Section 3 also apply.

Igennus may need to reschedule or cancel a Consultation because of staffing or operational needs. We will contact you as soon as reasonably possible if this happens.

You may reschedule or cancel in accordance with the instructions in your booking confirmation email.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy and Cookie Policy and applicable data-protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, as amended, and the EU GDPR where it applies.

Health information is sensitive personal information. Where we rely on explicit consent to use health information for a Consultation, we will ask for that consent separately. Acceptance of these Terms is not, by itself, explicit consent to process health information or consent to receive marketing.

You may withdraw consent by contacting support@igennus.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully, but may mean that we cannot provide or continue the Consultation. Further details about your information and rights are set out in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.

Where information concerns a child, you must have the necessary parental responsibility or legal authority to provide it. We may ask for clarification or decline to proceed if that authority is unclear.

We do not record Consultations. Please do not record the session.

10. No Obligation to Purchase

There is no requirement to purchase any Igennus product following the Consultation. Product references are provided as general supplement information and are not prescriptions or medical treatment recommendations.

11. Amendments

We may update these Terms when the service or applicable requirements change. The current version will be published on our website. The version made available when you book will apply to that booking, unless a change is required by law or you agree otherwise.

12. Acceptance of Terms

By booking or attending a Consultation, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and that you meet the adult eligibility requirements. Where the Consultation concerns a child, you also confirm the parental responsibility or legal authority described in Section 3.

Any consent required for processing health information is requested separately, as explained in Section 9. For questions about these Terms, please contact support@igennus.com.
